ET is short for EvapoTranspiration. This is a term that is applied to the loss of water in a particular microclimate based upon a number of factors including temperature, wind, relative humidity, etc..

Internet based irrigation is a watering system that is controlled using the internet whether it is just turning the water on and off remotely or having it irrigate according to weather data supplied over the internet. These controllers are offered by many manufacturers including CalSense, HydroPoint, Signature, Hunter, WeatherMatic and RainBird.

Another new feature being introduced is to send a text to notify you (or your irrigation professional) when a problem has occured with the system. For instance, if a solenoid has shorted out the system will send an alert so that you know there is a problem rather than waiting for the lawn to stress from lack of water.

I will go into greater detail about both of these subjects as time permits.
