A rain/ freeze sensor will keep your irrigation system from watering if it is raining (or has rained recently) or if the temperature drops to near freezing. The dangers of freezing are not only damage to your system, but ice on your sidewalks....not a good thing. These systems are available in wired and wireless models. There are also sensors that will shut off your system if it is too windy, and weather stations that will monitor the complete weather picture to determine water needs for your landscape (see the “ET & Internet Based Irrigation” page)..

     Weather stations can reduce the amount of water used by measuring temperature and wind to calculate evapotranspiration (ET) rates and adjust the watering times accordingly. This can mean less water used when the plants don’t need as much, or more water being applied in hot, windy conditions.

     Remote controls are not only for your convenience, but can save you money. Do you have a hard time scheduling check outs of your sprinkler system? With a remote control installation your sprinkler company can check out the system (or make repairs) anytime, whether

you are at home or not.
